Everyone wants a defined jawline and gonial angle but I’ve noticed a lot of surgeons don’t place implants in this area. While a lot of surgeons place chin and cheek implants it seems most surgeons like to stay away from mandibular angle implants. What is the reasoning behind this? Is there a high rate of complications? Is it a risky procedure? Are patients not satisfied with this procedure? It seems like I’m missing something.

The direct answer is 'yes'. The risk in to introduce the risk of infection to the healed site. Also, one may also choose a different material for the implants to achieve a proper contour rather than rely on 'stacking' implants which may not 'fit' together
We see a number of 'overzealous' jaw reductions in a Vline approach and commonly correct with implants. The materials vary in 'quality' although most are suitable dependent upon the 'strength' desired..ie subtle or strong. The procedure is safe. Infection is the short term risk
