One and a half year after LASIK surgery I suffer from a vexing ghosting effect on my left eye. There is a scar at the top side of my flap. My doctor recommends a PRK in order to „fix“ the ghosting, but I‘m very concerned. Are there patients who also did a PRK after LASIK? Did it really help fixing or mitigating the ghosting?

Answer: PRK or HD LASEK to fix ghosting post-LASIK
It is normal bc recovery after PRK takes a long time
that's why LASIK was invented
if you couldn't get LASIK bc of a thin cornea or high Rx, then you should have gotten a LASEK, it's like a fast-recovery form of PRK
Symptoms like the ones that you describe can be very normal during the PRK healing phase. Healing from PRK presents much more variability from patient to patient and eye to eye than LASIK. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for you to see your doctor; it will...
Because PRK necessitates the regrowth of tissue on the top of the cornea, it can be frustrating for patients. Nothing that I am reading about your description would make me nervous as a surgeon who performs PRK on a weekly basis. Keep using your tears, and keep your appointments with your doctor.
