Swelling After a Tummy Tuck - Alcohol Related?

I had a full TT without lipo 6 months ago. I had quite a serious haematoma in the first month which was cleared through surgery. My swelling is generally in control except the day after I have drunk alcohol; it doesn't matter if it is 3 sips or 3 glasses I still puff up the following day. Could alcohol be causing swelling? If so, what can I do to get this in control/alleviate symptoms (aside from giving up alcohol completely!) Thanks for your time

Swelling after a tummy tuck can be related to drinking alcohol

After having a tummy tuck, post operative swelling can be aggravated by alcohol consumption. The alcohol suppresses the release of anti-diuretic hormone (ADH).  Initially this causes the kidneys to retain salt but release large amounts of free water in the form of dilute urine.  Initially, one becomes dehydrated, but later, as one replenishes the water loss by drinking non-alcoholic fluid, the retained salt leads to swelling in all tissues especially areas that have just undergone surgery.  As your abdominal skin re-establishes its lymphatic drainage, over the next several months, this problem should improve.  Best wishes.
