Your skin should return to its normal status after it is healed - it is not a good idea to put a band aid on the skin that is healing as it could increase the risk of infection, although it is unlikely that this would cause a problem if you did it only once.

For most patients the redness after Fraxel repair should be resolved in three weeks.  The redness also depends on the setting used and the nature of an individual's skin.  For the best results please find a board certified dermatologist with a great deal of experience with Fraxel.

Fraxel generally works very well on pigmentation from the sun.  A photo would be helpful to evaluate your skin type and coloring.  Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may not respond well to the Fraxel with your skin type. I would recommend chemical peels or the Q-switched Yag for this area.  ...

I have been using the Fraxel Dual for many years and have had wonderful results.  I have seen these same patients many years later and their skin is still flawless and beautiful.  The most important thing to maintain the wonderful results from Fraxel is sun avoidance and proper sun protection.
