I'm having laser hair removal on my face, yet the lady never shaves the hair to shorten it. Can this cause burns?

Laser Hair removal complications
Shaving hairs before laser hair removal is a must, by not doing so you will get burned.laser energy is absorbed by melanocytes (black pigmentation). If dark hairs already present on surface they will absorb the energy n hearted up causing burn. Not only hairs rather even a dark mole should be covered properly before LHR.
