ThermiVa for Vaginal Dryness

ThermiVa has documented on it's initial study to improve vaginal dryness or atrophic vaginitis.  The pathophysiology as described by Dr. Alinsod's (principle investigator) theory of thermo-neogenisis.  It is summarized by the effect of the radiofrequency energy (ThermiVa)  stimulating the vaginal wall nerves causing dialation of the vessels, and  ultimately increasing the producing vaginal lubrication.

ThermiVA for Vaginal Dryness

Yes, increased lubrication to alleviate vaginal dryness is one of the many benefits of ThermiVa. The heated probe helps to stimulate blood flow to the vaginal tissue and nerves, increasing natural lubrication.

Yes, ThermiVa treats vaginal dryness

ThermiVa is a radiofrequency treatment that can treat women internally in the vagina. It stimulates collagen growth and is thought to increase vaginal blood circulation. The initial study showed that patients had improved vaginal dryness and less orgasmic dysfunction. The study also showed that some women could discontinue the use of vaginal creams used for dryness.

Consult with your physician to determine whether you are an appropriate candidate.

ThermiVa has proven to be a great option in the improvement and rejuvenation of vaginal tissues and function. Our patients have had great results with so far a 100% satisfaction rate. What has impressed me is not only the overall improvments noted (often dramatic) but also the rapidity of seeing results.
This is a great treatment option that is safe, comfortable, and effective.

Thermiva is a great way to treat vaginal dryness, particularly in postmenopausal women who are not responding to hormone therapy or who are unable to use hormone therapy.  It has tremendous utility in women who have dryness from estrogen antagonists like Tamoxifen, which is very commonly used in women who are survivors of breast cancer.

Yes, it treats vaginal dryness

Although there is risk with any procedure there is very little risk of excessive scar tissue or desensitization with the FemiLift, Mona Lisa or ThermiVa devices. FemiLift™ and Mona Lisa™ procedures use CO2 laser technology and the ThermiVa™ uses RF (radiofrequency) to shrink vaginal tissue and increase lubrication if dryness is a problem. The tightening is often sufficient to improve or correct urinary stress incontinence and/or mild cystoceles. The procedure is done in office and requires little or no post procedure down time.
The advantages are :
  • Minimally invasive, virtually painless procedure
  • Gentle treatment for controlled safety and accuracy
  • Maximum precision with Alma CO2 laser, the right wavelength and perfect pulse
  • Fast and efficient delivery of fractionated laser energy split into micro pixels
  • No post treatment downtime
  • Excellent patient satisfaction and long term success The Disadvantage of the FemiLift and MonaLisa is that is is only for vaginal treatment whereas the ThermiVa RF device can be used to shrink the labia minora as well and is more comfortable. These procedures cannot narrow the vaginal canal as much as a vaginoplasty surgery

ThermiVa can help vaginal dryness

Yes, ThermiVa can help treat vaginal dryness, pain and labial irritation. Treatments may promote internal and external vaginal moisture, by encouraging new collagen growth and circulation. This is especially useful in postmenopausal patients who do not want to or cannot use estrogen replacement.  Every patient is different, but ThermiVa has been very successful treating dryness.

ThermiVa is treats vaginal dryness

ThermiVa is a very good treatment for vaginal dryness.  Some women have been able to stop estrogen creams and lubrication.  The gentle radiofrequency heats tissues in a pain-free, controlled and safe fashion.  It improves circulation to the area, providing a healthier and moist environment, which can lead to less discomfort and even more pleasure as it also may improve sensation at the same time.

Does ThermiVa Treat Vaginal Dyness?

ThermiVA,  a radio frequency based device, has not been shown to effectively treat vaginal dryness. This technology is not able to raise tissue temperatures sufficiently to promote new collagen growth (Neocollagenesis), which is necessary for any lasting results. It has been shown that Neocollagenesis occurs ONLY when the tissues are heated to 60-70C. ThermiVa absolutely does not heat tissues to 60-70C, but only achieves perhaps 45-55 degrees Celsius. By heating the vaginal lining tissues, ThermiVa causes swelling, or edema. There is no scientific basis that supports the notion of ThermiVa producing long lasting results Fractional laser devices, such as Femi Lift by Alma lasers, actually have been shown through rigorous scientific study, to promote Neocollagenesis by heating the vaginal lining tissues to 60-70 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, Femi Lift also causes fractional ablation of the vaginal lining, resulting in regrowth of a thicker and more youthful vaginal lining. In my practice we have treated dozens of patients with Femi Lift and I have nor seen a single treatment failure. All of my Femi Lift patients have reported improved vaginal lubrication. Furthermore, most, if not all of my stress urinary incontinence patients (mild to moderate severity) have completely resolved their SUI.
