Is a Mommy Makeover Procedure Safe

The Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures to bring a woman’s body back to the way she looked prior to pregnancy. Most commonly some variation of a #TummyTuck and #BreastSurgery are performed. Additional procedures can include liposuction, umbilical hernia repair.  The most common #breastprocedures include #mastopexy or #breastlift, #breastaugmentation, or #breastreduction.
All surgical procedures carry some degree of #risk. Always discuss your issues and concerns with the Plastic Surgeon during and following your consultation. Information that you read online may not apply to your personal situation. The suitability of your procedures and any specific risks may be determined during you #consultation.

#Combining these procedures decreases anesthetics, costs, and recovery time.  Most importantly, your procedures should be performed by a #PlasticSurgeon who is board-certified and has a great deal of experience specializing in cosmetic #surgery. You will then greatly improve your chances of getting the result you desire, and, without the need for a revision surgery. It is suggested that you look at before and after photos of the surgeons actual patients, and read patient reviews. Gathering all of this information will help you make a well-informed decision.

How safe is a Mommy Makeover?

I would ask your surgeon as this will depend upon your anatomy, the surgeries planned, and the protocols established by your surgeon.

Mommy make over safety.

Combined procedures are nice in that they allow for one anesthesia exposure and one recovery. However, it depends on what procedures, are combined , the length of the surgery and the health of the patient, to determine what is safe. Typically I like to limit combined procedures to under six hours.

Compilations increase when procedures  are combined with tummy tuck, therefore, it is a good idea to limit liposuction when combined with mommy makeover (tummy tuck with breast augmentation). Make sure you select a board certified plastic surgeon who has experience in combining these procedures.

Jon M. Grazer, MD, MPH, FACS

Safety of a mommy makeover is directly related to the surgeon you choose.

Mommy makeover is a combination of operations that require a surgeon with good judgment as well as technical skills. Convalescence can be complicated and needs to be managed by surgeon who is interested and available. When you choose the right surgeon is a very safe combination of operations.

Mommy Makeover - Safety if Key!

Mommy makeovers involving combination procedures on the breasts, abdomen, hips, and back are are safe and very effective in the right hands. The surgeon needs to be an expert in all procedures and must have a lot of experience in performing combination procedures and can minimize the operative time. For example, we work in a team and would take around 4-5 hours for the complete operation. His allows us to get better results with less surgical time and less trauma. Our patients are typically wlking the same day and tapering off of pain medications by 4-5 days.

Combination procedures can give powerful results but safety is key. You definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

How safe is a Mommy Makeover?

As with any significant surgery, a mommy makeover does carry potential risks.  These risks include: infection, bleeding, wound healing problems and general medical problems such as thrombophlebitis or pulmonary embolism.  In most cases, patients who have a mommy makeover avoid these complications.  However, no surgeon, regardless of their skills or experience, can guarantee that a patient won't have a surgical complication.  To help reduce your risk, be certain to tell your surgeon of any medical problems you may have. Also, check with your primary physician and ask them if they have any concerns about you having the procedure.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.

Mommy makeovers are very safe if performed by a board certified plastic surgeon in an accredited facility.  As long as your health is good and you are an appropriate candidate for this procedure, you should do great.
