Bilateral Labiaplasty

Hello,
Bilateral labiaplasty refers to reduction in size of both labia. Some individuals require a unilateral reduction when only one side is elongated. Various methods are used to tuck or reduce the labia minora or majora. These procedures are delicate and require experience and skill to achieve a natural result while preserving normal function. Women feel increased confidence and comfort as a result of the procedures.Regards,Dr. Pedy Ganchi                                                                                                                                                       Village Plastic Surgery

Bilateral Labiaplasty

Thank you for your question.A bilateral labiaplasty is a reduction of both sides of the labia. There are different techniques that surgeons may use when performing a labiaplasty and its important to find a board certified plastic surgeon, preferably one who specialized in labiaplasty for optimal results. I recommend the wedge technique as it leaves more of the natural edge. I hope this helps.  Good luck in your endeavors!

Candidate for a Labiaplasty

There is a trend to have less prominent labia, but this is a matter of choice and there are no medical reasons to do so other than improving your appearance down there. Candidates for a Labiaplasty procedure are women who are concerned about the appearance of their labia or experience discomfort due to exceptionally large or long labia of either the inner our outer lips. Labia unevenness can result in discomfort with intimate contact, chronic rubbing, as well as psychological discomfort, which leads to the inability to wear certain types of tight clothing. Most women live with these symptoms, and actually are not even aware that a certain surgical procedure exists to help to correct this problem and restore their femininity.

Bilateral labiaplasty

Thank you for your question.   Labiaplasty means revises the labia surgically.   Bilateral means that both the right and left labia are being revised.   Most labiaplasty procedures are bilateral, although occasionally only one of the two labia needs revision.  Best wishes!

Bilateral vs. Unilateral labiaplasty

Bilateral labiaplasty typically refers to reducing the size of the labia minora on both the right and left sides. While bilateral is most common, I sometimes do perform only a unilateral, or one sided labiaplasty.

What is a Bilateral Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is the reduction of either the labia minora, labia majora or both. Bilateral, simply refers to both the left and ride sides. At your evaluation with a board certified, experienced labiaplasty surgeon, they will discuss your options with you and recommend the specific procedure for you.  Every vagina is unique, some women will have enlargement of both sides, while other's will only have one side enlarged. Ultimately the procedure you choose will be based on the results you desire.

Just terminology

Bilateral is referring to both side or both labias and as nothing to do with technique or surgical approach.
