Is it safe to use low dose retin a and doxycycline together? as there is conflicting information about the worry of intercranial hypertension and the the doxycycline leaflet only mentions not to use with isotretinoin which as far as I know is a systemic treatment Thank you

Thank you for your question. There was a case reported of pseudotumor cerebri (increase in intracranial pressure) with a patient taking doxycycline and topical tretinoin. The association was with doxycycline and not topical tretinoin. In my opinion, using topical tretinoin with oral doxycycline is fine. I highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist regarding further questions about your treatment. Take care and good luck.
