Can Minoxidil cause sexual problems?

I recently came across multiple forums where consumers claimed that usage of minoxidil resulted in decreased libido and other problems like erectile dysfunctioning. However it is not stated in given side effects of minoxidil. Can minoxidil cause any sexual problems (lower lab libido, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation etc.) ????

It if does occur it's not common. These studies are challenging to do because of the high prevalence of sexual dysfunction in the population. For example, according to the 1994 Male Aging study, about 40 % of men age 40 will have sexual problems. This rises to 70 % at age 70. If we look at it another way, this means that 40 % of men under 40 who use minoxidil will have sexual problems - not because of the minoxidil but because they under 40.  Sexual dysfunction attributable to minoxidil itself is not something that is encountered commonly in my practice. Reference Feldman HA, Goldstein I, Hatzichristou DG, et al: Impotence and its medical and psychosocial correlates: Results of the Massachusetts Male Aging Study. J Urol, 1994;151:54–61.

Minoxidil has many side effects but no sexual side effects are reported that I know of. See your doctor
