Can invisible aligners widen a narrow dental arch? (Photos)

Question

Can invisible aligners widen a narrow dental arch? My upper arch is narrow and I would like a broader smile (more teeth showing across) and more fullness in the maxillolabial area. The upper teeth already sit quite far out at the edge of the maxilla, which I am told is accelerating my gum recession. My lower arch isn’t as bad, but my lower teeth tilt inward to meet uppers. My bite is OK.

Generally broadening the smile depends on how much room exists from the lower arch as well. Although this can be accomplished with clear aligners you need to see a very experienced Invisalign provider to make sure your particular goals can be met. Yes, Invisalign can be used to widen arches. I have done this in many cases I have treated, and it does work nicely.  You would have to be evaluated first for attached gingiva and existing recession to be sure that this can be done without creating or worsening the recession you mentioned that you have.
