Difference between Men's and Women's Tummy Tuck procedure.
Tummy tuck surgery for men and women have a similar goal, so there is not much different. However, men may be concerned about scar placement and contouring so that the abdominal muscles are more visible. If you have any particular goals or needs for the outcome of your surgery, be sure to share them with your surgeon during your consultation.
All the best,

Is There a Big Difference in the Technique Used for a Tummy Tuck on a Man vs on a Woman?
The main concern for a man is scar placement. For a woman the concerns include scar placement, muscle tightening, umbilical appearance. Patient selection is also important, because if a man has a big tummy from intra-abdominal fat, a tummy tuck will not help. For most women, the abdomen is enlarged due to stretched out muscle fascia from pregnancy, and repair of this problem is a major aspect of the procedure.Otherwise, if a man has good muscle tone, but just excess skin and fat, the procedures are done the same way technically.
Is there a big difference in the technique used for a Tummy tuck on a man verses on a woman?
In general, the procedure for a tummy tuck is very similar in both women and men. The tailoring of the subcutaneous fat may differ somewhat to better accentuate the "six pack" muscles in a man, but the resection of skin and techniques for tightening the muscle layer is very similar. Hello thanks for your inquiry. Although the principles are the same in both men and women, there is the surgeons criteria to give a more manly appearance to the abdominoplasty. Please make sure that you and your surgeon are on the same page. Don't forget to discuss all your concerns, options and expectations thoroughly. Have a safe and pleasant PS Journey!

The technique for tummy tuck surgery is similar in males vs. females. The difference lies in the localization of the scar. It is important to ensure the scar for you is below your bathing suit line. Photos are predominantly women but you can ask to see male photos if you like. As always, experience by your surgeon is important.Hope this helps.Dr. Ali Mosharrafa
Male tummy tuck - finding the right surgeon
Thank you for asking about your tummy tuck.
- If your plastic surgeon is well-trained and thougtful, the skills are transferrable.
- Men are a little different - usually having less fat and often needing more done in the pubic area.
- You don't need a surgeon who specializes in men but one who has done two or more male tummy tucks and/or body lifts.
- If you have has major weight loss (50+ pounds), your surgeon should do body lifts as well as tummy tucks to give you the best advice.
Always see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Best wishes - Elizabeth Morgan MD PHD FACS
