The Preservé technique by Motiva is specifically designed to preserve as much of the native breast anatomy as possible during breast augmentation. Unlike traditional augmentation techniques that may require more extensive pocket dissection, the Preservé approach uses specialized instruments and a more limited dissection to create a precise implant pocket while minimizing disruption of breast tissue and supporting structures. This said, in my practice I have been placing implants in the sub facial position (above the muscle) for many years and also "preserving" as many of the anatomical structures as possible, so essentially doing the Preservé technique without the specialized device. I believe in some patients, the Preservé device can make a difference, but you are limited as to the size of implant. From a surgical perspective, the Preservé technique (and preserving the structures overall) appears to achieve its goal of reducing tissue trauma and preserving native breast anatomy. Potential advantages include: Less disruption of breast tissue and supporting ligaments Less postoperative pain Faster recovery In my practice and my opinion, careful pocket dissection, appropriate implant selection, and attention to surgical technique are likely to have a greater influence on tissue preservation than whether the Preservé technique itself is used.
