I have skin laxity in the lower half of my face and neck. I am not willing to go under general anesthesia right now, so am weighing the best non-surgical options. Facetite is highly reviewed but mentions fat dissolving, as I am quite thin, I worry losing any fat would actually age me. Profound seems like another strong option. There are SO many rf treatments out there - which one would be best for my goal to get the most bang out of one session?
Answer: Filler "Liquid" Facelifts Can Nonsurgically Contour & Define The Jawline & The Lower Face (& Upper Face) Unfortunately, a full profile shot and full face frontal view would have allowed for a better assessment. But, from what can be seen from the photos provided, there is a suggestion that filler chin augmentation may help to better harmonize the projections of the chin with that of of the lips and likely the nose. Additionally, a robust filler can help to define and straighten the jawline and provide secondary lift to the lax submental region. In experienced hands, this can be accomplished in a fifteen to twenty minute session and engender little to no significant downtime. I never get over be amazed at the power of marketing and advertising hype to sway public perception. Rather than what nonsurgical procedure would be appropriate, the question was phrased as which RF device would be best. Frankly, the hard science to support the use of these expensive, supposedly "next big thing" devices, much like the hype surrounding all kinds of fraxel lasers lags woefully behind. Make sure to consult a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and be wary of venues hawking this or that "bells and whistles" device it has just purchased. Best of luck.

Answer: Profound vs Facetite Hello, Facetite has a handpiece that goes to the sub skin tissues and heats the area and so it can melt fat. As is noticeable in the pictures, your lower face is thin and so the facetite is not a good option and Profound RF is better choice. It’s efficient for lower facelift and at the same time it can give you more defined jaw lines. Surgery is more efficient, but you are not looking for surgical options. Best regards, Dr Ali Sajjadian

Answer: Profound vs facetite - which one would be best for my goal to get the most bang out of one session? (photos) Aloha Augusty, Both Profound RF and Facetite are excellent rejuvenation treatments. I agree with you that Facetite does dissolve fat. Facetite is also more invasive and has a much higher incidence of adverse events (un-evenness and scarring.) My preferred treatment for you would be a combination done at one treatment session. The treatment is performed in our office. In your case, I would treat your chin muscles with 8 units of Botox to smooth and project your chin. Patients are given 1 mg of Xanax upon arrival. Their face is washed and topical numbing cream is applied. A tube of blood is drawn, centrifuged, and the yellow plasma rich in platelets is set aside (PRP). Ten minutes prior to the beginning of treatment patients are given a weight appropriate does of Demerol and anti=-histamine, awake but drowsy and very comfortable. In thin patients I begin with local anesthetic nerve block injections followed by a facial foundation building deep treatment of Sculptra. The neck skin is too thin for Sculptra so I inject hyperdilute Radiesse throughout the neck to stimulate collagen production. This is followed by Profound RF from the forehead hairline down to the clavicles (entire face and neck.) At the end of the Profound RF treatment, since our patient is already numbed from forehead to clavicle, I then use a light to heavy laser treatment (depending on the patient's desired result, a Fraxel CO2 repair or Fraxel Dual, for additional skin tightening and brown spot removal.) The recovery period is 5 to 7 days. This has been a fantastic rejuvenating treatment. Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Good luck and be well. Aloha!!! Michael Persky, MD Encino, CA
