I had some lymph nodes removed for biopsy one month ago and a J-P drain put in. It is averaging 550 cc daily through today.

My surgeon says he is going to try pouring 95% alcohol into the surgical site, if the drainage does not ease soon. (it has reached 890 cc in a day as recently as last week. I am interested in knowing if this is S.O.P.? I had a staph infection in the surgery site about 10 days ago, but a course of Cipro seems to have stopped it. Fluid is clear, yellowish and the flow increases dramatically upon even modest activity such as standing or walking a short distance.
