What is the realistic recovery time for bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction?

My doctor maximized my time off to 3 months. But I have a feeling I may need an extension because I work as a floor RN which entails heavy lifting.

In most cases, three months should be an adequate amount of time for recovery from bilateral mastectomy and breast reconstruction even with heavy lifting.  If you are concerned, let your surgeon know.  They should be able to increase your disability time if it is necessary.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
