Rhinoplasty will not actually shorted the upper lip but may make it appear relatively shorter if the tip is made with over projection. In contrast, premaxillary implant, which is sometimes used in some cases of Rhinoplasty may relatively lengthen the upper lip.

Lip lift is still however the most effective procedure to shorten the lip-nose distance.
