Fractional results take 3-4 months for full effect!

When you go for a factional laser treatment, your doctor or technician should let you know what you can expect in terms both the treatment and the post-treatment downtime and results. The full effect of the fractional treatment occurs three to 4 months after your treatment. The full effect of the collagen simulation is visible at this point.

If you do not see the results you expected, it could be that you were a better candidate for three less invasive treatments, spaced 2-4 weeks apart. We often use this protocol for the fine lines around the eyes. As well, we mention to many of our clients, that they may want to have Botox, for combination therapy to better target the problem areas.

At the Victoria Park Medispa, we take off the doctor consultation fee from any appointment booked and offer complimentary consultations with our technicians, therefore reducing a client’s risk of having a treatment performed without taking the time to think about what they really want. Any esthetic tool needs to be in the right hands, to achieve the best possible results.

Results after fractional laser treatment

There are many different types and strengths of fractional lasers, so it would be helpful to know which type was performed on you.  If a very strong laser such as fractional CO2 was performed, you may have up to 2 weeks of healing time and will see results immediately after you are healed.  If you had a very gentle fractional treatment (such as in a medispa), you may need multiple treatments before seeing significant results.  I recommend only having fractional laser treatment done by a physician such as a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.

Wrinkles Around The Eyes Require Multiple Treatments With Fractional Lasers

A wonderful article in the April 2011 issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology looked at fractional resurfacing for wrinkles on the lower eyelids.  The author studied 25 patients and found that on average patients required 3 treatments in order to achieve noticeable improvement.  For this reason, we usually recommend a series of treatments at the outset in my practice.

There are a number of different fractional lasers on the market , and these may be operated at different energy levels which may also have some bearing on individual results.
