Blepharoplasty Will Not Make Eyes Closer Together

The purpose of a blepharoplasty is to rejuvenate and refresh the eyes by reducing the excess skin and fat of the eyelid. Since it is only dealing with the soft tissues of the eyelid, it cannot change the position of the actual eye itself as that sits in the orbital socket.“Dr. D”

Does Blepharoplasty Make Your Eyes Look Closer Together?

In general, blepharoplasty should not alter the actual or apparent intercanthal distance.   Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of eyelid surgeries each year.  Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results.  Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

The goals of a blepharoplasty have nothing to do with how close the eyes appear.  Individuals with epicanthal folds can have them appear closer together after having these treated BUT that is not a blepharoplasty.

Does Blepharoplasty Make Your Eyes Look Closer Together?

The problem of eyes that appear too close together or too far apart is actually a skeletal issue. Blepharoplasty "opens" the eyes by removing excess, lax skin in the upper or lower eyelids and can reduce lower eyelid "bags." The procedure will not change the relative position of the eyes or make them look closer together or farther apart. I hope this information is helpful.

Blepharoplasty does not make eyes look closer together

The primary goal for upper eyelid surgery to remove excess skin and a little bit of fat. The primary goal for lower eyelid blepharoplasty is to remove mostly fat  (puffiness) and a little bit of skin. Upper and lower blepharoplasty should not make the eyes look more close  set.    Please see our photo gallery on the link below for examples of what an upper and lower blepharoplasty can accomplish

Does blepharoplasty make eyes look closer together?

A typical blepharoplasty of the upper or lower eyelids should not make the eyes look closer together.  Normally the surgery could make the eyes appear more open and alert, but it will not make them look closer to each other.
