Final dentures with snap in installed 4 days ago. Cannot reinsert top denture

Question

Lower implants and denture great.upper gum swollen and bleeding where denture cut into upper under lip and nose. Bone has shrunk on upper. Cannot get denture snapped on posts at all. Need to know how to reduce swelling, heal gum?? Is getting a longer hole attached to denture so it can be installed to post an option? I see dentists in 5 days and need to know options and how to heal and control pain meanwhile.

Dear msstuver, I would recommend asking for
an earlier appointment from your dentist. It sounds like you need denture
adjustment (the denture is too tight or the flanges are too high and cutting
into your lip).

If you have pain under the lip, it means the plastic lip on the denture is too long.  I usually remove most of it unless needed for additional lip support.  I best recommend to leave them out as much as possible & rinse with salt water for comfort and healing.  Wear them at least 8 hours before the appointment, this way the doctor can see where the sore spot is and where it needs adjusting.
