PRK Bandage Contact Was Removed After Just 1 Day by Dr. Mistake. Can This Cause Any Serious Damage?

Due to the assembly line nature of LASIK Vision Institute, my Dr removed my PRK bandage contact the very next day after surgery by mistake, thinking I was in for my contact removal. I can't tell you how much it hurt and when he realized what he did, he put drops in and left the room to get a replacement contact. I was actually a little light headed and nauseated after it but I am not sure if it was due to the pain or the fear of him screwing up my eye. Will this heal and how upset should I be?

you are correct, LVC is a discount laser chain

	in general, you get what you pay for, and if you pay more, you get more personal attention

	almost every chain does 99% LASIK as that is the fastest procedure so they make the most $

	then if you have a high Rx or thin cornea, they do PRK, because they don't know how to do LASEK, which has a quicker recovery and less pain and no scarring

	you had a problem i see often, which is someone has PRK done at a LASIK center, the tech forgets you had PRK, since 99% of their procedures are LASIK, and then treats you like their standard LASIK patient, eg take out your BCL at 1 day, or stop your steroid at 1 week, which is premature for PRK, and can cause scarring and bad vision

	therefore, if someone can't get LASIK and needs to get a surface procedure, they really should go to a center that specializes in surface procedures

	fortunately, as long as your epithelium heals quickly the 2nd time, you won't scar and lose vision, but you will have unnecessary pain and anxiety and missed work days
