Is Retin-A being used right if it doesn't cause peeling or dryness?

My doctor prescribed me Isotrex 0.05; I use it every third evening, & apply it approximately 20-30 minutes after I've washed my face. I use a pea-size amount which is enough to cover my entire face. However, I've noticed no dryness or peeling. Is it still working the way it should? I'm using it to treat blackheads, whiteheads, as well as wrinkles. Otherwise, my skin is normal, I don't have severe acne. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

This is an excellent question!  It sounds like you are using your Retin A exactly as recommended.  Redness and peeling are common side effects of Retin A, but are by no means required for the Retin A to be effective.  Many patients, particularly those with thicker and/or oilier skin, experience minimal or no skin irritation when starting Retin A.  In fact, even patients with more sensitive skin often grow accustomed to Retin A over the course of a several weeks, and eventually tolerate it without redness and peeling.  Rest assured, you are still getting the benefits of treatment!  Best of luck.
