Thank you for your question trixiasamson. IPL and laser hair removal are common aesthetic treatments. IPL stands for intense pulsed light; it is a modality. IPL can be used for a variety of conditions such as sun damage, age spots, redness, broken capillaries, acne, and hair removal. Laser hair removal is a treatment for permanent hair reduction. A number of modalities can be used for permanent hair reduction including Alexandrite lasers (755 nm), diode lasers (800-810 nm), Nd:YAG lasers (1,064 nm), and IPL. With any device appropriate settings must be used for safety and efficacy. Alexandrite works well for those with lighter skinned while Nd:YAG is safer for those with darker skin. IPL and diode are appropriate for those with medium skin types. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
