Thanks for your question.  Take the recommendations on the medication package insert with a certain amount of common sense.  Retin-a is a very useful medication for hyperpigmentation when used in a conservative, logical way.  If you wash the face with a gentle cleanser, use the retin-a only a few times a week at bedtime to start, and use a good quality moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning, you will likely have no problem using retin-a on a slow schedule.  Please consult your dermatologist for specific advice based on your skin type.

When you have eczema, your skin tends to be sensitive to topicals, especially on the face. There are other medications and procedures that can help with hyperpigmentation that can be used for sensitive skin types.
