Can Maxillomandibular Advancement surgery (MMA/BIMAX) be performed without braces?

I previously had braces roughly 5 years ago as a teenager and my teeth are still straight. I believe my bite is fine with no malocclusion. However of my jaws are somewhat recessed and I am looking into MMA surgery for aesthetic concerns. Will I be required to get braces again?

Yes, very common if you understand that the 'bite' won't be different. An experienced Maxillofacial surgeon is the best option in that case.
