What is miraDry and how much does it cost?

The cost can vary depending on where you live. We typically charge $2500.00 in our office in Newport Beach, CA. Most of our patients require only one treatment, and report about a 75% reduction. We always treat at the highest level (5) and we use appropriately sized templates that vary person to person depending on the size of the area being treated. MiraDry is a great new microwave technology that permanently destroys sweat AND odor glands that are responsible for hyperhidrosis and bromhidrosis disorders.
I hope this answer helps you make an informed decision, be well!

MiraDry is permanent sweat gland removal

MiraDry is a revolutionary new procedure using microwave technology to remove sweat glands from the axilla (armpit). Most patients require one treatment which is done under local anesthetic block. Not only does the procedure eliminates the sweat and odor glands, in women a can decrease hair growth 50-60%. The procedure takes about 30 minutes per side. It's important to apply ice for the first couple days after surgery because there is some swelling and discomfort. The results are immediate. The procedure costs about $2000 for the first treatment and $1000 for follow-up treatment as necessary. For my patients that are presently being treated with Botox which is $1000 every three months, having the MiraDry done is a no-brainer

Miradry 101

Miradry is the only FDA approved device that permanently reduces underarm sweat and odor. You may have heard of botox  for underarm sweating. While botox can work very well it is not permanent and only lasts 3-6 months. This means you will need 2-4 treatments per year. Therefore, the long term cumulative cost for botox is much higher than that for Miradry.Typically the cost of Miradry varies from one office to the next but on average, the cost is around 2,000$ for the first treatment. 80% of patients will need only one treatment. In 20 % cases a second treatment is needed. A secondary benefit of Miradry is thinning of the hair in the underarm, which is a great bonus! If a second treatment is needed the price is usually half of the first. The procedure takes about 1 hour to perform in the office. It is painless and there is no downtime. It is effective for anyone who has issues related to underarm sweat including odor, staining of garments etc. It also treats patients who have medically excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis and odor (bromhidrosis).

MiraDry

miraDry is a procedure that delivers microwave technology to permanently destroy the sweat and odor glands in your armpits.  A patient can expect to get approximately 70-80% reductions of sweat and odor after one to two treatments.  Our office charges $2000 for the first treatment and if a patient is desiring a second treatment it is $1000.  I, personally am very happy with my results.  I do not wear antiperspirant anymore since my treatment last month!

Hope this helps.

What is MiraDry

MiraDry is a device that deactivates sweat glands under the arms.  It works by delivering thermal energy to the layer where they exist and uses cooling to protect the skin.  Besides the oil glands in our skin there are three types of sweat glands: eccrine, apocrine, and holocrine.  Eccrine glands produce sweat, apocrine glands produce odor, and holocrine glands produce ear wax.  2% of our eccrine glands are under the arms.  You still sweat, just not under your arms.  Apocrine glands produce odor.  They only exist under the arms and in the groin.  It's the gland that dogs sniff.  People have tried to mask the odor for thousands of years.  The cost varies depending upon the location.
