Is my nose healing properly?

I had an open septorhinoplasty with some tip refining and dorsal hump shaving in July, but I feel as if the right side of my nose drops down more so than the left. My doctor told me I had thick skin and healing time would be a year but it seems to not be improving at all. My nostrils were uneven but have seemed to even out.

The nose can be swollen for up to a year or more. Swelling will depend upon the nature of maneuvers employed, presence of grafts or implants, thickness of skin, open vs closed, revision vs primary, etc.

Postoperative Rhinoplasty Healing

Rhinoplasty swelling in general takes approximately 1 year to resolve. In thicker skin, it takes longer, probably closer to 15-18 months. You probably have about 25% of swelling remaining at 5 months so still quite a bit could change. If you are really concerned about the changes, talk to your surgeon about reassurance and when you can start considering a revision if you needed to. Good luck.
