Cheekbones.

Hi doctors, I had cheekbone reduction 1 yr ago. The surgeon stabilized the bone with wires. Can this foreign material cause autoimmune reaction such as hives? Thank you

Steel wire causing allergy?

Steel wire used for fixation of your cheek bone is considered to be one of the least allergenic materials used in surgery. It is not likely that wire is the cause of autoimmune reaction but, theoretically, any foreign material may be a trigger for autoimmune reaction. Good luck.
