I'm seeing a lot of different types of thread lifts and am wondering if there is an actual difference between them or are they simply different brands (like Botox vs. Dysport). Also wondering if this procedure would be right for me to address the lower face or is there one that would be more effective? I'm 36 and feel I am beginning to have jowls. Thanks!
Answer: Facial Threads For Rejuvenation For patients, the difference between threads is vey confusing. Mint Threads and Nova are a type of thread call PDO. The Mint Threads have tiny projections, similar to thorns that are molded to the thread. The integration of the projections ensures that thread is not weakened. Nova is also a PDO thread whose projections are sliced into the thread. Silhouette Insta-lift is another variation of thread that has cones attached to the thread. All three are absorbable over time and stimulate your body to produce collagen... A younger age group has less laxity of skin and would benefit from the PDO threads. My experience is with Mint Lift Threads. They have a great assortment of threads to lift, contour and fill the face and neck. The Mint Lift Threads can also be used to contour and lift low eyebrows. You should find someone who is familiar with the various threads and can evaluate your specific needs. Likewise, this individual should have the artistic skill to balance and rejuvenate your face.

Answer: There is a big difference between them because they are all tools Novathreads, Mint threads, Silhouette threads are made from different materials have different lifting capabilities because their construction is different. Even within the Novathreads line, there are at least 8 different types of threads with various designs for a variety of lifting abilities. All Threads can de designed with barbs, hooks, cones, etc.One should look at these as "tools". None of these threads will yield amazing results if the appropriate patient is not selected or the procedure is sub optimally performed. Two doctors can have the same tools and yield totally different results. They belong to the same class but they are not the same thing. The results depend on the right patient, the right tools, the right vision, the right patient expectation and the right experience and skill of provider performing threads. Hope this helps. Best, Dr.Anna Avaliani, NYC
