Coolsculpting is an excellent form of non-invasive  fat reduction for the right patient. Some applicators take 1 or 2 hours but the new advantage applicators take only 35 minutes and have significantly less risk for delayed onset pain (especially in the abdomen). Results are seen at 2 months and typically 1-3 treatments will be necessary on each area to achieve ideal results. The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat there and the patient's goals.  There is not downtime and the results can be impressive in the right patient.  We also use the Zimmer Z-wave for improved patient comfort and added results. The best candidates are those who are in pretty good shape with areas of stubborn fat that won't go away no matter what.

Thanks for your question. You are a great candidate for CoolSculpting. Coolsculpting charges per area. Love Handles/Flanks are considered two areas. CoolSculpting for flanks on average should cost $1200-$1600. Best wishes.

CoolSculpting and UltraShape can both work for love handles

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

CoolSculpting and UltraShape are both great non-surgical treatments for reducing love handles. CoolSculpting works by freezing fat cells through a process called cryolipolisis, while UltraShape uses targeted ultrasound energy to destroy fat cells. I recommend visiting a skilled, board-certified dermatologist with experience in non-surgical fat reduction treatments for an in-person consultation to determine which procedure is best for you. Ultimately, the device used is less important than the skill of the doctor treating you!

Which is better considered better for fat removal, CoolSculpting or Ultrashape, in our NYC practice?

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
Ultrashape is relatively new and shows great promise for fat reduction, especially in areas that are not as localized as those treated by CoolSculpting.  If there is a localized bulge that can be fit in the one of many CoolSculpting applicators, then I consider CoolSculpting first. It may be one or two treatments (done on average, two months apart) for most patients, sometimes more. Ultrashape has been FDA cleared for the abdomen, but off-label use by physicians, can be done on this and other areas without needing specific shape or size of fat bulge concerns as there are no applicators in Ultrashape that need to fit over the area treated. The area in Ultrashape is traced out and the computer analyzes it and then allows the provider to treat the customized area.  However, Ultrashape involves three treatments every two weeks.

How To Get Rid Of Love Handles Without Surgery

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
CoolSculpting is the best non-surgical way to get rid of focused areas of stubborn fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Looking at your picture it seems that you would be a suitable candidate for the treatment, however an in-person consultation and evaluation would be needed to determine this for sure. Price will vary depending on how many treatments you need, geographical location, and experience of the provider. Hope this helps!

CoolSculpting non-invasive option to reduce Love Handles

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
Dear dama4:

CoolSculpting (CS) is tried and true for focused areas of fat thinning such as:
  • Tummy pooch and love-handles
  • Breast rolls and back rolls
  • Male-breasts
  • Inner thigh and under the butt "banana-roll"
  • Outer thigh and arms
  • The bulge adjacent to a scar,
  • Tightness around the arm, waist or thighs in clothing, and
  • Residual fullness after liposuction or tummy tuck.
With a full complement of CS applicators there is nearly no area of the body where the subcutaneous fat cannot be thinned.
  • The CoolMini applicator reduces the "Double Chin" and smaller bulges not previously tamed.
  • The CoolSmooth applicator is flat for wide mounds like the outer thigh.

It takes a proper fitting of the applicators to achieve your best response. Visit with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation of what procedures are best for you. Work with a Certified CoolSculpting Team to get your best results.

All the best!

CoolSculpting Flanks

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
CoolSculpting is an excellent solution to decrease stubborn areas of fat.  Patients see a 25% fat reduction of the treated area with a one hour treatment.  Pricing varies by area and office, but typically a flank treatment is $1500.  However, an in person consultation is the next best step to determine if you are a good candidate and develop your custom treatment plan.

Non-surgical treatment of love handles

CoolSculpting works well to reduce fat causing love handles.  An exam would be needed to determine if you might be a good candidate for this procedure.  The cost will vary by physician.

Reduce Love Handles without Surgery

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
Good morning,

You're absolutely right that there are new and innovative ways to permanently reduce fat in certain areas of the body without undergoing surgery.

At present the technology with the most scientific backing and clinical results is CoolSculpting.

Depending on the specific area to target, the amount of fat and the quality of the skin, CoolSculpting is often an excellent option.

It works by selectively freezing fat cells and causing them to be cleared naturally by the body. You see results in 1-3 months.

There is minimal discomfort and no downtime!

I encourage you to see an experienced Plastic Surgeon, CoolSculpting is one option and it's best to meet with someone who can offer you the full spectrum of services to meet you specific needs.

All the best.
