What do Juvederm products feel like when you touch it when it comes out of the syringe?

i played with some juvederm ultra (i was given an expired syringe to see what its consistency is like since i cannot dissolve voluma) and rolled it in my fingers and it thickened up (the way glue would thicken) after i rolled it a few times. it acts like a glue that would come out of a sticker without the stickiness. i expected it to remain semiliquid/ viscouse. is that the way it is supposed to feel and is that what happens when it is injected in the face?

Juvederm Is A Gel Filler

Thank you for your excellent question.  Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid gel filler with some viscosity and a consistency comparable to honey.  Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the body.  Once injected, Juvederm incorporates with the surrounding tissues and, because it is hydrophilic, draws in water and volumizes slightly over a 2 week period.  This is why the final result after Juvederm is seen 2 after weeks after injection.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

Thank you for your question Fml2016. Juvederm is a product used to enhance the face. The material has a viscous gel-like consistency when it comes out of t he syringe. When injected into the skin it restores volume to the face and draws water to the area, hydrating the skin. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

What do Juvederm products feel like when you touch it when it comes out of the syringe?

Thank you for your question.  Juvederm in all its forms has a gel-like consistency when it comes out of the syringe.  Once injected into the face it absorbs surrounding water adding volume and thinning/softening its thickness.  Hope that this helps.

When you roll it between your fingers, the friction causes some of the water to evaporate making it thicker.  WHen it is under the skin, that is a moist environment and it doesn't get thicker like it does when you roll it between your fingers.  As a matter of fact, hydration is important and keeps the filler plump.

Juvederm and Feel of it

Yes that is exactly what Juvederm feels like - a gel that gets injected. It is not really like glue but may feel that way in your hand. Best, Dr. Green
