I am new to this so bare with me. If you have a BBL and a full tummy tuck, how are you supposed to sit and sleep?

I see people saying that you should not sit Bc it kills the cells. So what are you supposed to do

I do these procedures combined very commonly in my practice. Not every patient is a good candidate to combine these procedures. I ask my patients to keep pressure off of the buttocks for 10 days after surgery (no sitting or laying on your butt). If you do a BBL alone then you will lay on your stomach. If you combine the procedures then you will lay on your side in the fetal position - switching with equal time between the two sides.

This is why it is not recommended to undergo these two procedures at the same time. There is no good way to recover from both, seeing how you are not suppose to apply any pressure to the butt and yet you cannot be on your stomach either. I would make sure you are consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon, whom I hope would encourage these two procedures to be done separately. .

BBL and Tummy Tuck

Thank you for your question. I do not recommend undergoing a tummy tuck procedure and a BBL at the same time for this reason. It's very difficult to rest after the surgery without compromising either procedure. After you undergo a tummy tuck, you'll need to rest on your bum and back. After a BBL, you should not sit on your butt for a couple of weeks. I recommend speaking in detail with a board certified plastic surgeon and discussing your options.

Post operative positioning after BBL and tummy tuck

Usually you should lay on your sides if you are having this combination performed. Most surgeons will stage these procedures but if you have them together laying on your side is your best option.

Hello dear, thanks for your question and provided information as well... you can sit normally but with your boopy pillow sweetie, and also you have to sleep with 3 pillow in your back and 3 more below your thighs..You will be fine, is just for a couple of weeks.

BBL and TT

I do not perform these together- there are increased risks and I agree, post op positioning is quite difficult.

Rather, I usually perform Vaser ultrasound liposuction of all areas with fat grafting to the buttocks first. In patients that still require a tummy tuck - usually more for lax muscles- this can more safely be performed several weeks to months later. Many avoid a tummy tuck altogether with Vaser liposuction.

I allow my fat graft patients to sit and lay on the buttocks, but only for short periods. I feel laying with legs and back up after a tummy tuck would place immense pressure on the grafted buttocks and cause it not to take. It is also impossible  to lay face down right after a tummy tuck so the buttocks is not compressed.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

BBL ant TT combo.

I have my patients stay flexed for the TT, and ask them to put a pillow under the thighs and lower back to take some pressure off the BBL. There are many factors that influence graft take in  BBL. Rather than waste the fat it makes sense to me to use it if the patient is having a tummy tuck as well.

I have included some BBL faq below as well. Hope it is helpful.

Thank you for your question.  It is a very good one.  You are correct in that you cannot sit on your buttock for at least 3 weeks following a BBL.  Since you cannot lay flat on your tummy following a tummy tuck, you are left to only rest on one side or the other for 3 weeks.  This is the main reason why I tend to recommend staging these two procedure with a 3-6 month separation.  Hope this helps.
