Can a gap in the hairline indicate recession? Should I be concerned? (photo)

There is this gap on my left temple. It’s just empty there, noticed it recently. Can recession start like that? To my understanding recession starts with thinning of the entire temple in general and not just an empty spot / gap (maybe due to hair growth cycle?). Other than that my temples have been the same for at least 10 years now. Also disregard the baby hairs, always had them.
