How much does a stand alone alar wedge excision cost in the Philadelphia area? What does this procedure correct?

I'm half Asian half white and the upper two thirds of my nose are narrow, however my nostrils go slightly beyond the accepted region that follows 2 straight lines straight down from the inner corners of the eyes. My nostrils are fleshy and malleable, there is no cartilage in the sides. Will an alar wedge excision reduce the pinched-ness and flared aspect of my nostrils?

Hello and thank you for your question.  The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Cost varies based on geographic region and surgeon expertise.   Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

Best wishes and good luck.

An alar base excision can reduce the flare and/or width of the alar base. You would have to be sen in person to determine what is appropriate for you.

Please seek a consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon.  If in fact there is little support in the tip area (i.e. fleshy and malleable), an alar base reduction alone can create breathing issues. Good luck.
