6 months after PRK surgery to correct pure astigmatism, do I really need enhancement and haze correction?

Your axis was “flipped” which is what happens when the
astigmatism overcorrects. With
PRK, whether for myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism, there is often an initial
overcorrection followed by regression as the cornea heals. It can take up to 6 months for full
healing to take place. Larger
corrections such as yours typically have more of an overcorrection/regression
than smaller corrections. So, try
to be patient and hope that as your eyes heal the astigmatism reduces towards
zero. If, after six months, you
still have visually significant residual astigmatism, you could consider
additional treatment. Corneal haze
after PRK is uncommon but certainly possible… There are several ways surgeons
manage this, including use of steroid eyedrops, vitamin C, and sometimes
additional PRK surgery with an adjunctive medication called Mitomycin-C. LASIK would not be a good solution for
additional surgery if you remain with significant haze since it will not help
to address the haze.
