For black and/or red ink, the pulse duration in the pico-second range doesn't matter much. Both lasers will be equally effective at removing those colors. The advantage of the PicoPlus is that it is capable of treating ink deeper in the skin than the Picoway. Best of luck.
Black tattoos are best treated with 1064 laser. The laser with shortest pulse, most power, largest spot size with be the safest and most effective laser for this tattoo. Both lasers have the 1064 nm laser. Both are 450 picosecond lasers and also have nanosecond capabilities too. However, PicoPlus has more power and larger spot. a larger spot will be able to get deeper ink and treat more safely. Red ink doesn't need high power and probably equal efficacy with both using the 532nm laser. White is tough for any laser and I can't guide you there. Both are good lasers with the PicoPlus being preferred in my opinion. As stated, the experience of the operator is very important too.
At our practice, we have had great results with the PicoPlus. PicoWay and PicoPlus are similar devices with subtle differences. The wavelength for the PicoPlus is good for treating the black inks. However, for the other colors in the tattoo, the PicoSure laser, another picosecond laser by Cynosure, would be effective. We would recommend a combination of lasers to address treatment. The PicoPlus and PicoSure each use different wavelengths so they each can target different colors in the tattoo more effectively.
I recommend choosing by practitioner and not by laser. Find an experienced physician, and go with whichever laser he/she has.Best of luck!
It is very common to use both types of lasers. Many practices have both types and some of the pico lasers also have combines pico and Q-switch built in. My recommendation is that you find a practice that has both. Best of luck.
Absolutely. With today's new technologies, it is possible to remove any part, or all, of a tattoo, and to do so faster, easier, and with less discomfort than ever before. Understand that it will take multiple treatments done over time, and depending on what part you may want removed, there may...
The differences have all to do with wavelength, power, and pulse durations. They all have picosecond capabilities. All but the Picosure have nanosecond as well. All but the Picosure have 1064 and 532 wavelengths. The Picosure is 755 which is best for greens and blues, but not so good for ...
Black ink is the easiest ink to remove. The best way to remove a tattoo is using a Q-Switched laser.
Laser tattoo removal is a wonderful way to lighten an existing tattoo in preparation for a cover up. We recommend consulting your tattoo artist prior to re-initiating laser removal. Your tattoo artist would be able to fill in the area of hypo-pigmentation.
Thanks for posting the photos. I do not recommend using acid to remove tattoos. I know you may be trying to save money by avoiding laser, but burning the tattoo off with acid will leave scars and skin damage in the exact shape of the tattoo. Not to mention any ink that is deep in...
