It is also one of the "fixes" that this procedure offers as non acoholic fatty liver and steatosis are treated with weight loss.

Almost every obese patient that has an ultrasound done is found to have fatty liver disease. If you are overweight, your liver is going to be filled with fat. As long as you don't have severe cirrhosis from it, you would still be a candidate for weight loss surgery. Fatty liver is basically an expected finding on your ultrasound.
