Will Mixto SX Treat Pre-cancerous Actinic Keratosis from Sun Damage?

February 7, 2009
Asked By:Mark B.

I started using Efudex cream for my diagnosed AK's. The actinic keratosis is mostly confined to my forehead area, but is also present to a lesser degree on cheek areas. I was prescribed Efudex cream, and in 5 days experienced the initial side effect that was promised: Extremely red and tender areas of my skin that I didn't even realize had underlying AK's. I started to explore the Internet to see if there were any pictures of patients before, during, and after using Efudex cream. I found numerous pictures that literally dropped me to my knees. I was hoping that my entire face can be treated with a 1 time treatment using Mixto SX Micro Fractional C02 Laser. Will this treatment work for me? I understand the treatment is supposed to be mild relating to pain and discomfort, with very minimal downtime lasting a few days, vs. a few weeks using the efudex. I stopped taking Efudex last evening and appreciate any medical advice regarding the Mixto SX Fractional C02 laser treatment.
