Is heat sensitivity alone enough to warrant root canal treatment on a crowned tooth?
I have intermittent and relatively mild heat sensitivity on tooth 19. The tooth is not cold sensitive, nor does it hurt to bite. It also does not hurt spontaneously, but the heat discomfort does linger for a few minutes. Radiograph looks fine. I'm scheduled to see an endodontist, but I'm concerned about receiving a root canal on a beautifully crowned tooth when I don't have any other symptoms. Is heat sensitivity alone enough to warrant a root canal? As a side note, I do clench at night.
