Hi, After breastfeeding my 3 kids I have lost volume in my breast. I would like breast implants to achieve fullness, but do I need a lift as well? My skin keloids & I am terrified of the potential scars a lift would create.

Answer: Would breast implants alone help me achieve fuller perkier breast, or does it look like I need a lift as well? Hi. Based on your pictures I think you could receive a nice result with implants alone. Some women may like a little bit of additional tightening that could be achieved with a lift, but with your history of keloids you would likely be best served with a breast augmentation without a lift to avoid the additional scars. I would recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon with good experience in this area who can guide you through the process and discuss the options for you specifically.Good luck and take care, Dr. Howell

Answer: Implants or lift? To most accurately answer your question would require an examination. However, based on your photos alone, it would appear that you could achieve a good correction with implants alone . The drooping , or ptosis that is present is primarily due to volume loss . Generally speaking , if the nipple is located at, or above, the crease below the breast (inframmary fold), adding enough volume will restore perkiness. If the nipple is located below this level, a mastopexy or lift will be required as well. There is still some risk of keloid formation with augmentation, but it is greatly reduced.
