Do I have to stop breastfeeding before my surgery?
I'm scheduled to get a gastric bypass at the end of september. I am still nursing my baby, she is 8 months old. My doctor said I need to stop nursing at least a month before my surgery. Why is this? He said that the hormones in my body from nursing increases my risk of throwing a clot. Is this true and why? I can't find anything about this on the Internet. She is eating solids now so she can get most of the nutrients I may lack after surgery from her solid food.
