What procedure for inner knee fat?

CoolSculpting has FDA approval for fat reduction since 2010. CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells. Fat cells are more susceptible to damage by freezing than the other cells, (nerve, vessel, bone, etc.), around them. The fat cells die via a process called apoptosis, (programmed cell death). The number of fat cells are therefore reduced. This happens over a period of time, so the body is not overwhelmed with dead fat cells. The body will take these cells up, process them and excrete them, just as any other cell. The remnants are filtered through the liver, and then excreted eventually via stool. Knees can be a challenge with any modality. CoolSculpting has a specific applicator that has been used in this area with good results.  We have had good experience with the skin snapping back.  Each individual is different.  See an experienced CoolSculpting practice, they will determine if you are a candidate.  Moreover, would also consider seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, who can give advice on both CoolSculpting and Liposuction.

Fat on the Inner Knee

An in person consultation is needed to determine if this can be treated non-surgically through Ultrashape or one of the new applicators coming out from Coolsculpting or surgically though liposuction.

I appreciate your question.
You would be better off with liposuction of this area

The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.
Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery.

best of luck!

Liposuction of the inner knee area is the most thorough at fat removal, uniform in contouring results, and only one procedure is generally required. Coolsulpting requires some mobility of the treated area so that the fat can be frozen uniformly (difficult if not impossible near the knee). Plus, more than one session of Coolsculpting is usually necessary--more cost, more downtime, less smooth result.

Liposculpture is a marketing term for small-cannula, small amount fat removal, which is certainly the case for precision improvements in this area. Liposuction/liposculpture can often be performed under local anesthesia, reducing procedure cost.

Either way, it's more about the surgeon and less about the machine. Best regards! Dr. Tholen

Surgical and Non-surgical options exist for fat reduction.  Tumescent liposuction is considered the gold standard but is naturally invasive and carries surgical risks.  Besides Coolsculpt and Liposonix ... Ultrashape and Vanquish are two further non-invasive options and in all cases, a proper consultation will help best inform as to the best treatment option.

This area is best treated with liposuction.  Other areas of the body can benefit from CoolSculpting.

There are many ways to treat this including liposculpting, kybella, Thermi and other external heating devices.  I suggest seeing a cosmetic surgeon with experience in this as you need someone meticulous and does hi definition procedures.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Best technique for fat sculpting the inner knee

Dear sharonmalaysia:

It is difficult to offer you an idea of what is best without examining your thigh and inner knee appearance. Therefore it is best to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who does all procedures for body contouring so you may receive your best assessment and recommendations.
Options include:
  1. CoolSculpting for very small amounts of fat reduction in a small area.
  2. Liposuction for a greater amount of fat with contouring over a larger area to include just below the knee and upward to the inner thigh and front thigh.
  3. I have found any of the laser, ultrasound and radio-frequency devices to promise more than they can deliver and recommend against it.

I hope this is helpful. All the best!

For fat on the inner part of the knee, I recommend liposuction.  That area tends to be small and fibrous.

Depending on the amount of fat present either CoolSculpting or Liposuction will work. You will need to see a board certified plastic surgeon to evaluate your area of concern and then determine which procedure will be best for you.
