I had one gastric bypass revision. Can I have another?

Duodenal switch, DS, surgery is the most invasive and most effective weight loss surgery we currently have. On average, you loose more weight with DS compared to gastric bypass or sleeve. The downside of Duodenal switch surgery is the longterm side effects related to nutrient malabsorption and higher short term complication rate related to surgery. When it comes to revision Bariatric surgery, there are limited data on the value of converting gastric bypass to DS to achieve more weight loss. However, with revision surgery the complication rate especially the leak rate is higher. So is it worth it for you to undergo a second revision? It is possible to reattach the gastric pouch to gastric remnant after gastric bypass revision? Can you tolerate general anesthesia for at least 6 hours?And what are your expectations after redo surgery? How much weight are you expecting to loose? What kind of diet do you currently have? Do you exercise on a daily basis? Do you cope with daily stress effectively ? ....Revision surgery in our field of weight loss is always a difficult question to answer. You only give us the first page of your operative report, so I can't be sure what was done.  It describes re-sizing your gastric pouch, but doesn't say how much smaller it was made.  If the original pouch was of "reasonable" size, then the operation you had usually doesn't work.  So don't beat yourself up too much.You would still be a candidate for a duodenal switch, though it would not be an easy operation.  I'm not saying I would recommend it; I am just answering your question.
