Cellfina: What is procedure like?

Cellfina is a long lasting, FDA cleared treatment for cellulite dimples on the buttocks and outer thighs.  The technology uses a light local anesthetic, along with a novel tool that is gently placed under the skin to release and eliminate cellulite dimples. The treatment takes about an hour, is comfortable for patients, and recovery is rapid.  Most patients rated the discomfort as a 2-3 out of 10 during the treatment, and patients can drive themselves home after the procedure.  About half of patients took only Tylenol for pain in the few days after the procedure, and pain dropped to zero within a few days.  A light compression garment similar to Spanx is worn for 5-7 days after the treatment. Side effects such as bruising and swelling were minor, last only a few days, and resolved in 100% of the patients in the FDA study we performed at our office, Skincare Physicians near Boston.  Many patients were able to begin to see results as soon as 3 days after the procedure, and 99% of the time the results were obvious.

Cellfina is the newest cellulite treatment on the market. We are proud to be of the first practices in the country to offer this commercially. We are very excited about this treatment, as it’s unique in its mechanism. In the patients we have treated thus far, we have seen unbelievable results. This procedure does not require general anesthesia or any oral medications for pain or sedation, its minimally invasive, with very little downtime. Our patients returned to work the next day. There may be some swelling and bruising. You wouldn't want to have the area exposed in a bikini for 10-14 days since swelling and bruising can take this long to heal, in some patients. It involves a local numbing solution, and then a device is used to release the fibrotic strands that are causing the cellulite dimple.
Cellfina will make her national TV debut on Friday, May 1st on The Doctors!!! Please check the show’s website for your local network listings. Please tune in for more details. Also, call our office for more information.

Cellfina is a minimally invasive procedure in that the area of cellulite to be treated is suctioned up into the device, anesthetized and then the fibrotic strands that are causing the dimpling or pin-cushion effect are released. Some bruising and tenderness is likely to occur and may last 2 -3 weeks. Results typically are excellent and last over a year, if not many years.

Cellfina is the Best Treatment for Cellulite

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}

Cellfina is a minimally-invasive treatment performed in the office by Plastic Surgeons and others. External skin treatments (for example lasers or creams) have for years been frustrating in that they have little long-term impact on cellulite. Years ago we showed that external vibration treatments could help some, but any benefits faded when treatments stopped.

Cellfina works by "subcision" to release tethering bands that cause dimpling and cellulite. The special thing about Cellfina, though, is that it allows a very thorough but controlled treatment that is a major improvement over the manual subcision technique I've done for years. I've purchased the Cellfina device as it make the most sense to me as a legitimate treatment for cellulite that lasts long term.

No treatment is without limitations or will work in all situations. For example, if you have dimpling and skin contour irregularity that is caused by loose skin, Cellfina is limited.

Bottom line -- in my opinion, Cellfina is the best treatment for cellulite available today.

Hope this helps,

Cellfina is the only FDA cleared device for the treatment of cellulite. Cellulite is the conseqence of anatomical structures beneath the skin tethering the skin down and creating dimples.  Through a simple method, small needles are used to create a scarless entry into the bands tethering the skin.  With a bit of suction and releasing of the bands with the needles, the dimples are corrected and the tethering is released.  Studies show results lasting up to three years.

The indications are:

  • Buttocks
  • Outer thighs

The satisfaction rates are very high for a minimally invasive procedure with up to 80% improvement of the dimples.

Cellfina Treatment

CellfinaTM is the first Health Canada approved treatment for cellulite that has been shown to produce results that last for at least two years. CellfinaTM is ideal for patients with localized areas of cellulite resulting in discreet dimples in the skin. It is not as effective for people with a generalized “cottage cheese” appearance. The Cellfina system treats the primary structural cause of cellulite, the connective bands woven throughout the fat in the thighs and buttocks.  These bands pull down the skin creating the pucking you see on the surface of the skin. The treatment is a single in office procedure performed under local anesthesia. A microblade releases the cellulite bands, allowing the skin to lie in the plane that it would naturally.  The treatment is generally very well tolerated.  There is minimal downtime and results are often apparent within a few days. An assessment in our office will help to determine whether you would be a good candidate for CellfinaTM.

Cellfina is the latest minimally invasive, FDA approved device for the treatment of cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with minimal downtime. Patients do well with oral sedation to help relax. The areas of dimples are numbed and then a tiny knife blade is used to cut through the fibrous bands which are causing the skin to dimple. Patients will see immediate improvement, but will also have swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks. Most people return to work the next day with minimal pain. Results have been shown to last at least 3 years.

Cellfina: What is it?

{{ voteCount >= 0 ? '+' + (voteCount + 1) : (voteCount + 1) }}
Cellfina is the newest, most effective FDA approved technology available for treating cellulite. This one-time, minimally invasive procedure takes only 45 minutes to perform, but the results last for a minimum of two years. Cellfina has the longest lasting results of any current cellulite treatment. Its approval rate is over 93% on RealSelf Used on moderate to severe cellulite of the buttock and thighs, Cellfina works by treating the rubber-band-like connective tissue that causes cellulite. When these “rubber bands” under the skin are cut, the fat trapped underneath in dimples “snaps” back into place, creating a full, smooth appearance. There is no cutting and no incisions. To perform this controlled, precise, and safe procedure, a vacuum hand piece is placed over the dimpled tissue through which the surgeon will deliver a local anesthetic. Then a small, needle-like microblade is inserted to release the fibrous bands, the cause of cellulite.
