How long will the mouth be red after ablative laser resurfacing?

Depending upon how aggressive the treatment is, redness can normally last from 1-3 months. Usually makeup can be worn by about 5-7 days. Makeup is usually applied once the skin has healed and can be used as long as the redness persists. One reason why I caution people against spot-treating or treating just one unit of the face is that the redness stands out more when only a single area of the face is treated. Isolated treatment of the mouth can create a "Homer Simpson" look which people find objectionable during the healing phase.
