i am 5ft 3 and weigh 175lbs (12 stone 4lbs). i want to be at my best BEFORE i have a tummy tuck, how much weight would be good to loose first? its hard to know whats just skin and what is fat.
Answer: The more ideal body weight before a tummy tuck the better results The more ideal body weight you have before any elective cosmetic surgery (especially a tummy tuck) the better results you will have typically. This is especially true for a tummy tuck as you will have less visceral fat if you are not overweight which will allow us to tighten up your abdominal wall more with permanent sutures to plicate the fascial layer of your abdominal muscles. This will also allow us to remove more skin and not have to do as much liposuction of the abdomen and hips, which will result in more definition of your six packs. The more liposuctioning you need, the more obese you are, the greater the chances for wound healing issues, DVTs (deep venous thrombosis) and Pulmonary embolisms. From the looks of your pictures I think you should have a really nice result once you are more down to your goal weight. You are very wise for wanting to lose some weight first to give yourself the best chance possible for the best and safest outcome. Your PS will usually discuss with you what he/ she feels would be your ideal weight for the best possible outcome. Best wishes.

Answer: Weight loss is not absolutely necessary before abdominplasty. It's not really necessary to achieve ideal body weight before abdominoplasty. If you're heading there in a reasonable period of time, wait until the weight has been achieved. Otherwise, it's fine to go ahead.

Answer: Weight loss before tummy tuck I tell my patients to lose weight only to the degree that they will be able to maintain it post-operatively. Results can be compromised if weight is lost before surgery and then regained afterwards. If you are at a stable weight, I think you can proceed at any time.

Answer: How much weight to lose before Tummy Tuck? There is no ideal weight for a tummy tuck procedure. The main thing is to make sure that you are at a long-term stable weight. If you're planning to lose weight in the future, then it's likely best to wait and tell you have reached the new weight to have a tummy tuck procedure.Additional weight loss will make it easier to remove excess skin, and allows your surgeon to tighten the abdominal wall further. Conversely, gaining weight after a tummy tuck procedure may stretch your skin and abdominal wall after they have been tightened.
