Why is it that on the left side of my nasal bone there is a little bone sticking out?

 The dorsal hump is usually composed of both bone and cartilage and must be filed or shaved down to remove it. Once the hump has been shaved down, osteotomies of the nasal bones are required to prevent an open roof deformity and straighten the crooked nose. Occasionally a spreader graft is placed underneath the concave upper lateral cartilage when it has been dislocated inwardly to repair the crookedness of the nose.    Choose your rhinoplasty surgeon wisely, since straightening of the crooked nose is a very difficult endeavor. It is not uncommon to have a spontaneous change in the cartilages of the nose and developing a small bump. It is more common in the tip but can happen in any area. Typically starts after a mild trauma that you might not have noticed and then with time the deformity becomes noticeable. RegardsDr. J
