I'm 40 and already have loose jowls. I would like a fresher cleaner look. What would you recommend?
Answer: Facelift versus fillers Sure, fillers may soften the jowls slightly, but this is not the best solution. Adding weight to the bottom of your face is a Band-Aid for the real problem which is the fact that the tissues have fallen. Fillers are a half measure which I would only entertain if you are set against surgery or do not have the financial means to do so. A mini facelift will allow that sagging tissue to be lifted back up to where it fell from, thereby restoring a heart-shaped looked your face. See a plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon. If you've see a "cosmetic Dr. " or "dermatologic surgeon " you will not be given the real surgical options, and may get sold on fillers when in fact they are not the best answer.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

CONTACT NOW Answer: Mini lift for jowls By looking at your pictures, you do have early signs of aging face. You could benefit from a mini facelift to improve your jowling, and Fat Grafting with PRP to ad volume to your mid-face area. This is your best permanent option. The other option is fillers and Co2 laser resurfacing. Chronological aging is not a determining factor for a facelift rather physical aging. In my practice, I have seen some 40 year old that needed full facelift and there were some 50 year old that only benefited from Botox and fillers. Having a facelift surgery at an early age has no disadvantages, as long as you’re a good candidate for it. Since you’re experiencing an accelerated aging face, you probably need another one in 10 years to maintain a refreshed look. I would recommend that you find a facial specialist who has performed thousands of facelifts.

Answer: Jowl Thank you for your question, Ebs1976. You are able to address sagging jowls via the Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift and Kybella. Kybella is a non-invasive in-office treatment with a short recovery of little to no discomfort. The Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift offers the same type of convenient recovery but is slightly more invasive to provide a more extensive improvement of the jowls. Please consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to determine the personalized treatment plan that is best for you.Best wishes,

Answer: Sagging Face -- Fillers/sculptra, Thermi, Thermage/Ultherapy/Venus Legacy, Viva Resurfacing There are many options but volume with fillers/fat/sculptra and skin tightening with ultherapy/thermage are the best options at younger ages to avoid surgery. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Get rid of jowls Hi ebs1976. You have early signs of jowling which would benefit from a minifacelift. The surgery involves tightening the muscles of the face, resuspending the jowls higher where they used to live. Good luck. Best, Dr H

Answer: How can I get rid of sagging jowls? As time goes by, we lose elasticity in our skin. Some people earlier than others. The result of this loss of elasticity is development of the jowls and neck skin excess. A lower face lift with neck liposuction and tightening the platysma muscles under the chin will give you that fresher, cleaner look that you desire. Repositioning the SMAS layer which is the second layer of the face and re-draping the skin in a natural position will be the most effective treatment. While 98% of my patients come to see me for the exact thing you describe, remember, we look at ourselves in the neck and jowl area, but what you look at when you look at other people and what they notice about you is your eyes. Often times a pinch of skin above the eyelids combined with the lower face lift can give you that "WOW factor". John Standefer MD
