Dear dr is the pure medical grade silicon oil safe to use on the lips and nasolabial folds under what is called the microdrolet technique invented by prof Orentreich ? My doctor claims that the silicone oil stimulates the body's collagen production and that it encapsulates the collagen produced by the body . He uses the purest medical silicon oil and is injected in very small droplets , apparently about 8 sessions are needed to achieve the desired results . Is this safe in the long term ? Many thanks
Answer: Silicone in lips Dear Mirelus:In my humble opinion, permanent fillers should be used only to treat acne scars. I believe there would be a high risk of complications if you were to put silicone on the lips, even via the microdroplet technique. I have seen patients with granulomatous reactions to silicone.
