Can you tell me when I'm able to massage after having explanted?

I am a petit frame 5ft 3in 57 yr old who had explanted after 26 yrs of having two lots of breast implants. The last being 6yrs ago with uplift done at same time. I was 32 a cup and had 285cc implants removed. Sadly, I'm left with rather odd sharp and one breast having less tissue looking rather shelf like with indentation. I would like to know if in your opinion, Massage really does help and why so, also, how soon after explant can I start? My PS asks I wear support bra for 6 weeks day & night.

Thank you for asking about your breast implant removal.
  • I am sorry you have been through so much with your breast implants.
  • Your plastic surgeon will probably not want you to have any massage for six weeks.
  • We really don't know if massage makes any difference or not -
  • As long as it isn't painful, it does not harm to try.
  • But definitely no massage without your plastic surgeon's approval.

I recommend my patients wear a compression garment for several weeks to aid in recovery.  Massages usually start 10 days to 2 weeks after surgery.
